Castle walk

This hike in the hilly areas starts directly from your apartment and takes you to Castel Corba in Missiano. When you arrive, you can decide whether to visit the ruins of the Castel Boymont first and then the Castel d'Appiano or vice versa. The ruins of Boymont, with the tower still accessible, offer an amazing view of Bolzano, the Sciliar massif, the Catinaccio Group, the Adige Valley and the Oltradige. By far the most impressive is the Castel d'Appiano, home of the ancient counts. A special feature is the chapel with its Romanesque frescoes, also known as the "Sistine Chapel of the Alps". There is also a cosy inn offering traditional cuisine.

Two-wheeled adventures

Your cycling holiday

Numerous and extensive cycling paths (about 500 km) cross South Tyrol through charming apple orchards and historical hamlets. Suitable for easy and comfortable rides on your bike. The most demanding tours, passing through forest roads, lead into the mountains, to the mountain pastures and mountain huts. These paths are also used by hikers: mutual respect is the top priority!

700 km

The Via Claudia Augusta is a 700 km long cycle path which leads from the Bavarian town of Donauwörth through the Alps to the Adriatic. Cycling along the imposing mountain range takes place mainly on the Via Claudia Augusta, the ancient Roman road built by Emperor Augustus around 15 BC. In South Tyrol, the route starts from the Resia Pass and, through the Val Venosta, continues to Merano, touches Bolzano and, through the plain, arrives at the border with Salorno. A little tip: with the Val Venosta railway you can go from Castel Firmiano (a few km from San Paolo) to Malles in Val Venosta, and then return by bike.

Mountain bike path "The ancient railway line of the Val di Fiemme"
arrow downarrow up
21 km

The ancient railway led from Ora to Predazzo in Val di Fiemme. Today the gravel road is a wonderful mountain bike path (height difference of about 900 m), which carries on through old tunnels and railway viaducts. The first part of the itinerary (Egna-Molina) is quite demanding, the second (Molina-Predazzo) is more accessible and with a minimum slope. If desired, you can continue until Val di Fassa, as far as Canazei, on the foot of the Sella Group. A little tip: in the summer from Molina to Canazei and back, there is a shuttle service with bike transport.
